We Had A Marble-ous Monday!

Mrs. Buck's update for September 18th 2006

Today was a great day!  We worked very quietly during Spelling Activities and earned two magic marbles.  After taking some notes for grammar, we had our first fire drill.  It went very smoothly.  Our first day working at centers was a huge success!  We earned two more magic marbles for quietly working, obeying centers rules, and focusing on our work.  Mrs. Buck was very impressed!  Our new story this week is Goldilocks and The Three Bears.  It’s a classic.  In math, we dissected word problems and went over the different steps to use to help understand word problems.  First, we underlined the question.  Then, we circled the facts.  Next, we boxed key words.  Finally, we solved the problem.  This strategy will prove most helpful when we begin more difficult word problems later in the year.  In religion, we reviewed Sunday’s Gospel reading and the Blessed Trinity.  We began taking notes on the Holy Spirit.  We received our Flag Packets in social studies and had a relaxing class coloring the American flag.
