Viva Mexico!

Mrs. Buck's update for September 26th 2006

Today, we started our new chapter in spelling and completed spelling activities. The Book Fair had some great books! We enjoyed looking through the books and picking ones to purchase. Centers went well again today. Our new reading textbook story is about a boy named Anthony Reynoso. It is an informational piece about Anthony’s life in Mexico. Mexico is our theme this week and we are thrilled, especially about our Mexican cookbooks. We talked about how authors write things for different reasons: to entertain us, inform us, persuade us, or express their feelings. In gym, we played an energetic game of flag football. The weather was gorgeous! After lunch and SSR, we went to our first music class with Mrs. Grayum. In math, we worked with rounding numbers and analyzed a number line. We began our new unit on the Sacraments of Initiation in religion. The photos we shared from our Baptism are wonderful. At the end of the day, we watched a video about patriotic symbols to review for Thursday’s quiz.
