What Does a Turkey’s Head Look Like to You?

Mrs. Buck's update for November 21st 2006

Our morning began with a Native American Tribe Word Search. We also worked on a “Thankful” project. On leaves, we wrote about someone we are thankful for and shared some things about them. They look very festive on our bulletin board next to our “Perfect Puffin Poems.” After practicing some handwriting, we worked with homophones. Some of these seem so easy, while others can prove to be a bit tricky. We did a great job using these correctly. Charlotte met Uncle in Charlotte’s Web, and she wasn’t impressed. In math class, we reviewed multiplying by zero and one. Our new topic today, after our Math Maintenance, was multiplying by twos. It is so important to know your doubles in addition because it makes multiplying by twos so much easier! A fun activity we did today involved a turkey head cut-out. We were challenged to use the shape to make something else. Some of us really thought outside of the box. They turned out terrific! After lunch, we read our SSR books. In religion, we talked about the feast day of Our Lady of Providence. Mary has so many special feast days throughout the year. In social studies, we began a brand-new topic: Our Leaders. This will go along with our topic of Government and also Washington, D.C.
