We Read Some Incredible Books Today!

Mrs. Buck's update for January 24th 2007

Happy Wednesday!  Our morning began with spelling activities and a Word Ladder sheet.  At library, Mrs. Devine read two wonderful books to us.  Creation was about how God created the world in seven days.  Underwear! was about animals wearing underwear.  After reviewing some of our homework, we finished Ananse’s Feast:  An Ashanti Tale.  Akye the turtle treated Ananse the same as he was treated.  We discussed how the theme of this folktale was sharing.  Jon Scieszka’s book:  Squids Will Be Squids was a huge hit.  Mrs. Buck fell in love with it after reading only a few of the stories.  It contains some pretty hilarious fables.  We talked about how fables and folktales are similar.  You should definitely check this book out!  It’s guaranteed to have you smiling!  Computer class with Mrs. Nolan followed recess.  After lunch, we read our SSR books.  In math class, we explored the relationship between multiplication and division.  We continued learning about the Ten Commandments in religion.  During social studies class, we started our new topic of government and communities.  Did you know that different communities have different types of government?
