What Does Catholic School Mean to You?
Mrs. Buck's update for January 25th 2007
After a morning of spelling activities and a Word Ladder sheet, we reviewed our homework and met in literacy groups. Our Word Wall Wizard Word of the Day today was: “people.” In grammar, we reviewed descriptive adjectives. We will begin adjectives that show comparison next week. Sparkle was sparkling, as always. In The BFG, Sophie and the BFG mixed up the dream and headed off to London. It’s so exciting! We can’t wait to find out what happens next. In math class, we explored multiplying cents. Using large pennies on the front board, Mrs. Buck had us regroup them into equal groups. Who knew dividing could be so hands on? We also played “Last One Standing.” This game allowed us to show off how quickly we know our multiplication and division facts. Hats off to those of you left until the very end! A game of Math-O finished up math for the day. After lunch, we read our SSR books and practiced singing in church. For Catholic Schools Week, which is next week, we wrote acrostic poems about what being Catholic and going to a Catholic school means to us. A sign with all of our signatures shows how proud we are to be at St. Francis! Don’t miss our sacrament flowers in the stairway! We enjoyed reading The Tale of Three Trees, which is a touching folktale about how three trees play a part in Jesus’ life.
