Learning the Tricky Nines Is So Much Fun!
Mrs. Buck's update for February 12th 2007
A new chapter in spelling filled with contractions started off our day! Our Word of the Day was: “right.” After working in our literacy groups, we explored the importance of following directions in order in our Reading Practice Book. Be sure to ask us about the new Mystery Student. Our new story for the week, One Grain of Rice, is a mathematical folktale. Doesn’t that sound intriguing? Despereaux is disobeying so many mouse rules. It’s so adorable that he’s in love with a human. It’s a great book to read this week especially because of Valentine’s Day! After recess, we learned about multiplying by 9’s. We were so excited to learn all of the neat tricks you can use with the 9’s. Singing our multiplication songs also helped reinforce facts we’ve already learned. SSR followed lunch. Many tests need to be signed tonight! In religion, we reviewed the meaning of the different Commandments. We sure know our stuff!
