Lent Has Begun!

Mrs. Buck's update for February 21st 2007

Today we celebrated Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. What will you do to prepare for Easter Sunday? Our morning began with some fun activities about presidents. After some spelling activities, we went to library. Mrs. DiMattia read us a beautiful book about a friendship between a hippopotamus and a tortoise. It’s a true story! The prayer service for Ash Wednesday had us reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts for Easter. The ashes are an outward sign that we are following Jesus, but we need to think of how we follow Jesus on the inside. After recess, we had computer class with Mrs. Nolan. We found out some interesting facts about some of our presidents. Lunch came next. After lunch, we copied our homework and had SSR. In math, we began dividing by 6’s. Religion had us thinking about the composition of the church. Our diagrams show the relationship of family, parish, diocese, universal church, and communion of saints. In social studies, we began our unit on maps and globes. Which would you rather use: a map or a globe?
