Stories are Light. Make Some Light!

Mrs. Buck's update for February 22nd 2007

Do you know which president is on which coin?  We do!  We worked with this topic for fun this morning.  After spelling activities and checking our homework, we met with our literacy groups.  Our Word Wall Wizard Word of the Day was:  “terrible.”  In reading, we finished The Woman Who Outshone The Sun.  We predicted that the next time a stranger enters the village, the villagers will be nice to them and treat them with respect even if they are different.  Despereaux is down in the dungeon!  He has met Gregory.  Gregory asks Despereaux to tell him a story because stories are light in such a dark, dark place.  Talk about some beautiful imagery!  After recess, we continued working with dividing by 6’s by playing a game of Math-O.  We also took a Math Maintenance, checked our homework, and sang our Multiplication tunes.  In grammar, we finished up our work with contractions.  The composition of the church was our topic in religion class.  Social studies had us making maps of our classroom with partners!
