Do You Know What Apostolic Means?
Mrs. Buck's update for February 23rd 2007
Our Friday morning began with spelling activities and a cloze worksheet about Thomas Jefferson. Our Word of the Day was: “that’s.” It was so cool that our Word of the Day happened to be a contraction. After working in our literacy groups, we took our spelling and selection tests. A review of words with suffixes in phonics pointed out the importance of changing a “y” to an “i” before adding an ending. We have started Book the Second in The Tale of Despereaux. Roscuro seems like he wants to be a good rat, but he is tempted to be bad by Boticelli. After recess, we celebrated Maggie’s birthday with some delicious fruit. Reading about different extreme places around the world opened up many discussions about what we already know. Lunch followed, as did SSR. In math, we began dividing by 7’s. A timed test on multiplication proved challenging, yet helpful. We talked about the growth of the church in religion. A dictionary helped us more clearly understand the words “one,” “holy,” “catholic,” and “apostolic.” Are you living out the mission of the church? Our money tree filled with new currency that we designed in art class is awesome! What would you do if you had a money tree? Have an incredible weekend!
