Our Last Two Days of This Week Were Filled With Seuss Fun!
Mrs. Buck's update for March 2nd 2007
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Our Friday morning began with capitalization of proper nouns and adjectives. We enjoyed the logic puzzle. It really made us think! Our Word of the Day was: “there.” Spicy sentences were suggested by many of us. Some of us met with Mrs. Buck in our literacy groups, while some of us worked on our new “How To” book or explored centers. First Friday mass was beautiful. Father DiMaria’s sermon had us reflecting on the importance of believing in Jesus and acting like him. Just belonging to church doesn’t mean we are following God with our hearts. After recess, we finished up our Unit 4 Assessment in Reading. Math had us reviewing operation patterns. It was tricky at first, but after a little while, we had our brains working hard. Our math quiz and math maintenance sheets kept us on our toes. Art was a blast! We made giant Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat hats! We worked together to finish everyone’s hat. Now that we know how to do this, we can try it out at home too! Have a magical weekend!
Our Thursday morning began with reviewing the headings found in textbooks. Our Word Wall Wizard Word of the Day was: “then.” This is very different from “than.” After meeting with our literacy groups, we finished up Part II of our Unit 4 Assessment in reading. Our goal writing pieces came out beautifully! Everyone will enjoy reading about our hopes for the future. We were introduced to a new character in The Tale of Despereaux. Her name is Miggery Sow. Her life is rather sad. In math, we worked with dividing by 9’s. A game of Around the World helped us show off our knowledge! Singing practice had us lifting our voices to the heavens! The book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish can be confusing! It was a tongue twister for Mrs. Buck!
