Do You Know Our North American Neighbors?

Mrs. Buck's update for March 21st 2007

Happy Spring! A morning of spelling activities and adverb review started our day off on the right foot. At library, we listened to Mrs. McGonigal read Lettice. We also began gathering research information about our famous women for our Women’s History Month flower project. In reading, we began reading Brave Irene. She is so determined! We enjoyed comparing her bravery to that of other characters we’ve encountered throughout the year. In phonics, working with prefixes helped build our vocabulary and familiarity with expensive words. After recess, we went to computer class with Mrs. Nolan. After lunch, we copied our homework and read some of our SSR books. Math had us exploring a new topic: Estimating Products. We used two different processes: rounding and front-end estimation. Working at the board is always fun. In social studies, we began learning about the seven continents. A puzzle of North America helped us realize who our neighbors are to the north and south.
