Spring Similes Made Us Smile!
Mrs. Buck's update for April 19th 2007Our morning began with spelling activities and our Word Wall Wizard Word of the Day: “went.” After reviewing our homework, we learned about similes and metaphors. They are such beautiful forms of figurative language. Our ideas about spring created wonderful mental images for all of us to enjoy. We finished Part II of our Unit 5 Reading Assessment. Only one section left! Our “Guess Who” pieces from our Writing River Literacy Center turned out great! We enjoyed guessing who everyone else wrote about. Omri thought his brothers found out about his secret in The Indian in the Cupboard. Do you think he should show Patrick his tiny friend? After recess, we explored a new topic in math: Geometry. Today we learned all about lines, line segments, and rays. Did you know that there are several different kinds of lines? We all looked smashing for our spring photos. After lunch, we read our SSR books and copied down our homework. We had a discussion about making good choices and finishing third grade with a bang. In religion, we reviewed the different colors for the liturgical year. Social studies had us creating meaningful, inspiring posters for Earth Day. Hopefully everyone will do their part and respect our planet!
