Claude Monet’s Waterlilies Are Magnificent!

Mrs. Buck's update for April 24th 2007

Our day began with spelling activities and our Word Wall Wizard Word of the Day, which was “were.”  After checking some of our homework, we began reading some of The Pinata Maker.  The pinata process is long and complicated.  In grammar, we learned about combining subjects and predicates.  This makes for more interesting, smooth writing.  Patrick made a tiny cowboy come to life in The Indian in the Cupboard.  Trouble is definitely brewing!  We enjoyed reading about Claude Monet today.  Did you know that some of his paintings are 40 feet long?  Yesterday, we read about Leonardo DaVinci and Vincent Van Gogh.  Each artist used very unique methods when painting.  After recess, we had gym outside with Mrs. Nolan.  Lunch came next, followed by music with Mrs. Grayum.  Ricky’s mom gave a great presentation about saving our money and planning ahead.  In math, we continued working with geometry, specifically open and closed polygons.
