What Do You Think Ink Blots Look Like?

Mrs. Buck's update for April 30th 2007

Happy Monday!  Our day began with a new chapter in spelling and our Word Wall Wizard Word of the Day:  “whether.”  Sharing our grandparents interviews really opened our eyes as to how times have changed.  Have you ever played with jacks or had fun during a game of kick-the-can?  Literacy group work came next, followed by a picture walk through Mailing May.  Our weekly skill is setting.  Our new vocabulary is mostly about mail and trains.  Handwriting practice had us working on our k’s and u’s.  In The Indian in the Cupboard, Omri took Little Bear and Boone to school.  After recess, we reviewed ordered pairs in math.  Symmetry was our new topic.  Using fancy glitter glue, we made Rorschach ink blots with perfect symmetry.  You should see how they turned out!  It was a blast!  We also practiced our songs for the end of the year and had a Math Minute.  After lunch, we read our SSR books and copied homework.  In religion, we learned about St. Catherine of Siena and St. Joseph.  Praying the rosary in May will be a special way to honor Mary.  In social studies, we began our new unit on Famous People.  Today we focused on Susan B. Anthony.
