So Many Creatures Live In A Pond!
Mrs. Buck's update for May 21st 2007
We had a fantastic day today! It all began with a new chapter in spelling. We only have one more chapter after this week! Where did the year go? After working on a Word Ladder, we had an early snack. Soon after, we headed out on our field trip to Great Valley Nature Center. Our first program was about animals and the environment. We visited several different habitats and learned how all of the organisms in an ecosystem are connected. Lunch outside was wonderful. We were blessed with such beautiful weather. There were many different birds of prey for us to watch and other animals too. During our “Pond Pondering” session, we traveled around the pond. Using small buckets and scoops, we collected different living things from the pond: tadpoles, water striders, nymphs, and snails. We even found a baby turtle, several frogs, and a water snake! The flock of geese flying over us and landing in the pool made for a fabulous finale! It was an educational, hands-on field trip that we will never forget!
