Our Book Club Order Finally Arrived!
Mrs. Buck's update for October 22nd 2007
Our Wonderful Word of the Day was: furious. Have you ever felt furious? After beginning a new chapter in spelling and working with spelling activities, we explored this week’s vocabulary. We also took a picture walk through our story: Balto, The Dog Who Saved Nome. Can you believe it is based on a true story? We made several predictions about this story’s events. In our handwriting books, we practiced cursive “m” and “n.” These can be confusing because of all the humps. In grammar, we learned about two types of nouns: common and proper. Do you know the difference? After recess, math had us adding two digit numbers. We took our maintenance sheet to review key concepts. A game of “Around the World” and a timed test on basic addition helped us show our knowledge of math facts. In religion, we prayed the First Luminous Mystery of the Rosary: The Baptism of Jesus. Listening to Sunday’s Gospel and writing retellings of the parable helped us understand the Word of God and the message Jesus was sending. After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. Our Scholastic Book Club order from September finally arrived! We were so excited to get our books! In social studies, we reviewed communities and trade. Our packet filled with different producers/consumers/goods/services activities will prove beneficial in preparing for our test on Thursday.
