We Love Our Monster Friends!

Mrs. Buck's update for October 23rd 2007

Our Wonderful Word of the Day today was: generation. We made some excellent sentences using this word. After spelling activities, we met in our literacy groups and worked with Mrs. Buck, at Centers, and on Class Book. The book we are starting to write this week is a compilation of scary stories. Be prepared to shake in your boots! Will Balto save the day in our reading story? We can’t wait to find out. Practicing our “y’s” and “x’s” in our handwriting book reminded us of how these letters are formed. Creating our monster friends was so much fun! We designed the heads and our neighbors completed the bodies. You should see how silly they look! We will use our monsters’ names to write acrostic poems about them. After recess, we continued working on our monsters. In math, we took our maintenance and began adding three digit numbers. The process is the same as two digit numbers, which we worked with yesterday. We all did a fabulous job reciting the Apostles’ Creed in religion class. Mrs. Buck could tell that we practiced it often at home. After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. Our Science test came next, followed by our Pre-Lab for tomorrow’s Lab. Our new unit of study is: Properties of Matter. Our Lab tomorrow will have us exploring the states of water.
