What State of Matter is Ice?

Mrs. Buck's update for October 24th 2007

Our rainy Tuesday began with spelling activities. After starting our morning work, we headed to the Science Lab. We explored the properties of water in three different states: solid, liquid, and gas. It was fun to feel the ice and water. After checking over our homework, we met in our literacy groups for reading. Practicing the lowercase “v” and “z” in cursive was challenging, but helpful. We enjoyed reading about another brave dog, similar to Balto. Our acrostic poems about our monsters are so creative! Writing poetry is fun!  In math, we took our maintenance and continued exploring addition with more than two addends.  In religion, we prayed two decades of the rosary, reflecting on the Second and Third Luminous Mysteries:  The Wedding at Cana and The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God. Do you know who the minister is for Confirmation?  After lunch, we read our SSR books and copied homework.  We finished up our story about Balto.  In social studies, we learned about local government.  Setting up a town council meeting will be a hands-on way to understand how local government works.  Computer class rounded out our busy day.
