Have You Seen Our Synonym City?
Mrs. Buck's update for October 25th 2007
Our day began with the Wonderful Word of the Day: gesture. We showed different examples of gestures too! After reviewing our homework, we met in our literacy groups. Library was a blast! Recess came next. We worked on our lowercase letters in cursive, listened to Balto, The Dog Who Saved Nome on audio cd, and played two games of Sparkle. Synonyms are words that have similar meanings. We roamed the room and began creating a Synonym City. This will become a permanent part of our classroom decor. Not only will we remember our synonyms, but we can also use it as a resource to “spice” up our writing! In math, we took our Math Maintenance and explored the strategy of drawing a picture to solve word problems. Mrs. Buck modeled several of these for us. In religion, we finished learning about how Confirmation is celebrated. The Fourth and Fifth Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary, The Transfiguration and The Institution of the Holy Eucharist, finished our practice of praying the rosary to honor Mary in October. We will pray the rosary again in May. After lunch, we had a Mystery Reader! We copied our homework, read our SSR books, and filled our test folders. In social studies, we took a test on communities and trade. Science class had us completing a table and answering questions as part of our Post-Lab.
