Nouns are Everywhere!

Mrs. Buck's update for October 29th 2007

Our day began with our Wonderful Word of the Day: grief. After beginning a new chapter in spelling and working with these words, we learned our new vocabulary for the week. We enjoyed reading the mini play filled with our vocab words. Our new story, Wild Shots, is about a professional photographer. She has captured many incredible animals on film. Mrs. Buck explained our new cycle of Centers activities to us that will begin this week. Writing about funny pictures, evaluating ads, and using homophones all sound like loads of fun! In handwriting, we practiced the joining of several different lowercase letters. Barry sure was a brave St. Bernard in our read aloud book! After recess, we explored singular and plural nouns. You should see how many different singular and plural nouns we found while hunting in our room. It was amazing! In math, we took our math maintenance and continued concepts of regrouping. Using the hands-on place value blocks is a helpful way to understand the “whys” of regrouping. In religion, we began working on our mini Saints Projects. This will remind us of the importance of All Saints Day. After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. Social studies class had us discussing voting and elections. We began creating posters to remind everyone about voting next week. In art, we worked on our flags.
