God Has a Special Plan For All of Us!

Mrs. Buck's update for December 19th 2007

Our day began with our Wonderful Word of the Day:  opportunity.  When did you have an opportunity to do something great?  After working on spelling activities, we read the first half of Ramona Forever in our reading textbooks.  Reading in small groups was a new way of reading.  It was fun!  Discussing the story together as a class helped us show our knowledge of the story.  The story in our Advent book today was about wolves.  The wolves joined in the journey to Bethlehem with the bear, the lamb, the sheep, and the shepherd.  After recess, we read The Crippled Lamb.  Our Kindergarten buddies visited our classroom to watch The Crippled Lamb video.  This story sends the message that God has a special plan for all of us.  We are all different, but we all have gifts to share with others.  We were excited to give our special cards to our buddies.  In religion, we talked about making safe choices.  Brainstorming about people we can trust and turn to in times of need helped us realize how loved we are.  Our math quiz came next, followed by a lesson about visualizing.  Visualizing is when you create images in your mind as you read.  After listening to a reading of “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost, we illustrated the visualizations we had.  Our depictions of snowy drifts and thick woods are beautiful.  It was a nice way to reflect on our weekly theme of winter.  After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books.  Music and computer class ended our day on a cheerful note.
