Do You Know What BFG Stands For?
Mrs. Buck's update for January 3rd 2008
Our day began with our Wonderful Word of the Day: plunge. What do you like to plunge into? We are very excited about our new Literacy Centers activities which we will begin next week. Mrs. Buck explained them to us this morning. After listening to Oh The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss, we began brainstorming ideas for goals that we might have. This will become a writing project next week as it ties into our weekly theme of New Year’s Resolutions and Goals. It’s fun to think about things we hope to do in the future. What goals do you have for this year? Library was next on our schedule, followed by recess. After recess, we explored our new vocabulary in our reading textbook by completing our Write, Draw, or Show activity. Our creative ideas greatly impressed Mrs. Buck! In grammar, we continued learning about prefixes and suffixes. It’s fun to pick words apart to figure out their meanings. Math class had us working with multiplication facts with 6 as a factor. We also took a timed test on 0, 1, and 2. We finished up learning about Holy Orders in religion. Tomorrow we will discuss Matrimony. Our Sacrament Flowers look stunning on our bulletin board. After recess, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. Mrs. Buck could hardly wait to introduce our new class read aloud to the class. We made predictions about what BFG stood for. Be sure to ask us! In social studies, we completed our Washington, D.C. projects and shared them with the class. We had a very busy, productive day!
