Have You Ever Written a Diamante Poem?
Mrs. Buck's update for January 22nd 2008
Our day began with our Wonderful Word of the Day: recover. Have you ever had to recover something that you might have lost? After working with our new chapter in spelling which includes homophones, we explored our new vocabulary. Our Write, Draw, and Show groups come up with some interesting ideas! After working in our literacy groups at Centers, Class Book, and Small Group, we read some of the The BFG. Some of the dreams the BFG has are very funny! Can you imagine dreaming about saving Mrs. Buck? After recess, we learned all about a different form of poetry: diamante poems. We created a sample of one as a class by using an interactive website on the projector. Then, we each composed our own diamante poems about Catholic schools for Catholic Schools Week next week. In gym, we had a blast with Mr. Bruno. After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. In math, we learned about missing factors. This is preparing us for division! Can you believe it? In science, we had our Pre-Lab. We talked about conductors and electricity. We look forward to tomorrow’s lab experiments!
