We Swapped Teachers!
Mrs. Buck's update for January 30th 2008
Our Wonderful Word of the Day was: request. What is something you might request? After working on spelling activities, we reviewed our homework. We played two games of Sparkle and read some of the BFG. Sophie and the BFG made it to the palace and found the Queen’s bedroom! We swapped teachers for Teacher Appreciation Day. Ms. Nangle came downstairs to work with us. We learned more about onomatopoeia. Our poems using sound words are going to be fantastic! After recess, we took our Math Maintenance. We worked with dividing 2’s and 5’s. We also started dividing by 3’s and 4’s. We are very surprised at how easy division can be! A quick game of Around the World helped us show off our knowledge of the multiplication facts. Our math songs sound better and better! In grammar, we learned about adjectives that show how many. We hunted for these in magazines and completed our adjective searches. After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. In social studies, we continued working on our “Where Do You Live?” projects. We had a future-teacher guest in the afternoon. She helped us create wanted ads for Catholic School teachers. She also read us a story about a very famous teacher, Miss Nelson is Missing. This gave us some more ideas for our advertisements. We had a great day!
