Our Alliteration Poems Are Awesome, Amazing, and Artistic!

Mrs. Buck's update for February 25th 2008

Today’s Wonderful Word of the Day was:  tackle.  What is something you might need to tackle?  After working with our new compound spelling words by completing Spectacular Spelling Activities, we discussed the new literacy centers activities for this cycle.  They sound exciting!  In reading, we explored our new vocabulary through “Write, Draw, Show.”  Despereaux now wears a red thread in The Tale of Despereaux.  What will happen when he goes to the dungeon? After recess, we completed two timed tests, one on the multiplication facts for 3’s and one on the facts for 4’s.  Did you know that words can be translated into math expressions?  Today, we talked about how “more,” “fewer,” “twice,” and “equal groups” can help us determine which operation to use.  We performed our last two fairy tale plays:  Stone Slop and Aladdin and the Magic Pickle Jar.  In religion, we watched a slide about the Fourth Station of the Cross:  Jesus Falls the First Time.  After listening to a reading about this Station, we asked Jesus to help us always do our best.  Our Stations of the Cross Booklets are really coming along!  After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books.  In science, we took our electricity test.  Our new topic in science is Space!!  Art class ended our Monday on a creative note!
