Simon Was So Very Helpful To Jesus!
Mrs. Buck's update for February 27th 2008
Today started with spelling activities. We enjoyed our lab about the eight planets. Practicing revolution and rotation helped us understand the difference between the two. We also enjoyed the model set up to show how distance from the sun affects a planet’s temperature. After reviewing our homework, we worked on our alliteration poems and illustrations. After recess, we read the rest of Leah’s Pony. Her neighbors were very compassionate and thoughtful! In math, we took a timed test on 4’s and also took our Chapter 7 Test on division concepts. In religion, we watched a slide about the Fourth Station of the Cross: Simon Helps Jesus Carry the Cross. We listened to a reading about this Station and also prayed that Jesus will guide us to help others. Simon sets an example of kindness for all of us. Before lunch, we worked in our literacy groups. Some of us worked at Centers, while others completed parts of a new class book or met with Mrs. Buck at the carpet. After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. In social studies, we began early work on our states’ projects. We are so thrilled to be learning about different states in the USA! The “Fifty Nifty United States” song is going to be fun to sing! It will teach us the names of all the states in alphabetical order! Wow! Despereaux has met Gregory the jailer in The Tale of Despereaux. We also begin learning about a new character, Chiaroscuro. Mr. D had us thinking away in computer class at the end of the day.
