May the Luck of the Irish Be With You!
Mrs. Buck's update for March 17th 2008
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Our day began with a review of our weekly vocabulary and some Word Ladder sheets that help build phonemic awareness and vocabulary skills. Our Wonderful Word of the Day today was: wisdom. Can you think of someone who is filled with wisdom? After listening to Boom Town on cd, we wrote about what we would do if we ever found a leprechaun. We also drew some great illustrations of leprechauns. It was neat to meet with Mrs. Buck and conference about our progress in our writing portfolios. We were so happy to see how much we have grown since the beginning of the year! After morning recess, we explored multiplying three digit numbers in math. It is the same process as multiplying two digit numbers. It is very important that we take our time with these problems and do each step carefully. In religion, we talked about Holy Week. We completed some pages in our religion workbooks and also listened to the Gospel readings for Holy Thursday and Good Friday. The Washing of the Feet is a beautiful part of Holy Thursday’s mass. Despereaux hears Roscuro’s devious plan to seek revenge on Princess Pea in The Tale of Despereaux. Will he be able to help her? What a fantastic book! Now we know why it is Mrs. Buck’s favorite! After lunch, we read our SSR books and copied homework. In social studies, we began sharing our States Projects. We sure are experts on our states! Art class with Mrs. McQueen ended our Monday on a creative note.
