Our Butterflies Are Magnificent!
Mrs. Buck's update for March 25th 2008
Our Wonderful Word of the Day today was: wring. What is something that you need to wring out? We began a new chapter in spelling. All of our words, with the exception of our five extra ones, are verbs. They either end with “ed” or “ing.” After completing some spelling activities, we met at the carpet to discuss our day. In science, we worked on our Pre-Lab for tomorrow’s experiments. We will be finding out about the four seasons and why we have them. Our Easter writing pieces are nearly finished. They will make an excellent class book. We enjoyed writing about our holiday traditions. After recess, we had a timed test on the multiplication facts for 7’s. After our math maintenance sheet, we explored multiplying money. It is the same as multiplying other large numbers, except you need to add the decimal point and dollar sign. Mrs. Buck checked to see if we are still practicing our multiplication facts on a regular basis. We played “Last One Standing.” Some of us know our facts really well! In gym class, we played kickball outside. It was a beautiful day for gym! After lunch, we read our SSR books and copied our homework. In reading, we explored our new vocabulary by working on “Write, Draw, Show.” In religion, we discussed how today is the feast of the Annunciation. We also read about the Easter season. Our adorable caterpillars, which we created during the retreat, are now beautiful butterflies, symbolizing how we are all new creatures in Christ.
