We’ve Started Long Division!

Mrs. Buck's update for April 1st 2008

Happy Tuesday!  Happy April Fools’ Day!  We started our morning with vocabulary work and spelling activities.  After reviewing our homework, we met in our literacy groups to work at Centers, Class Book, and with Mrs. Buck.  Our new class book will be filled with funny personal narratives!  What are some funny things that have happened to you?  How Much Is a Million is an informative story that teaches about money.  We enjoyed Stephen Kellogg’s interesting pictures.  After recess, we took a timed test on the 8’s facts and then began long division.  This topic can be a bit overwhelming, but we are taking apart the problems and taking our time with the steps.  We will be exploring long division this week and next week.  Gym class with Mr. Bruno was a blast, as usual.  After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books.  In Science, we had our Pre-Lab for tomorrow’s lab.  We will be learning about the phases of the moon.  In religion, we are continuing the Ten Commandments.  Today we discussed Commandments #6 and #9.  At the end of the day, we enjoyed sharing some of our timelines.  It is so much fun to learn about one another!
