Figurative Language Spices Up Writing!
Mrs. Buck's update for April 29th 2008
Our day began with Word Ladder sheets and vocabulary review. After reviewing our homework, we worked in our literacy groups at Centers, Class Book, and with Mrs. Buck. Do you know what a simile is? We do! The two key words for similes are “like” and “as.” If you see those when comparing two things, then you have a simile. Our simile poems are going to be fantastic! They are the last required writing component for our portfolios. We can’t believe the year is almost over already! After recess, we worked on a Math Maintenance Sheet and also a geometry quiz. In religion, we began praying the rosary since we do not have school later this week. We reflected on the first Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation. We also had a discussion about adults we can trust and making safe choices. Working with buddies, we created catchy slogans to remind others about who they can trust. Gym class came next, followed by lunch. After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. In social studies, we worked on a map packet to review our map skills and also practiced our Fifty Nifty United States song. At the end of the day, we finished up working on our newspaper articles. Have a restful long weekend!
