Do You Know What SPF stands for?
Mrs. Buck's update for May 27th 2008
Happy Tuesday! Our day began with vocabulary review. We are almost completely finished working with all of the words from our Word of the Day list from during the school year. Word Ladder sheets also had us thinking about the spelling and sounds of words. In reading, we began taking our reading final assessment. We will finish the other two sections tomorrow and Thursday. Our Pre-Lab in science had us thinking about sun safety that we’ve learned about so far this year. We also learned what the SPF of sunscreen means. It will be very interesting to see the importance of SPF tomorrow at the lab. Claudia and Jamie are still trying to solve the mystery of the angel statue in From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. We can’t believe they aren’t homesick yet. After recess, we worked on a Math Maintenance sheet and finished up our last two topics in measurement. We worked with milliliters, liters, ounces, and pounds. It was fun to estimate the capacity and weight of common objects. In religion, we prayed a decade of the rosary, reflecting on the Second Luminous Mystery: The Wedding at Cana. Gym class was outside! After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books. We then worked in our literacy groups at Centers, Class Book, and with Mrs. Buck. It is amazing to think that this is the last week working at these stations! In grammar, we used adverbs that compare. Social studies had us thinking about Susan B. Anthony and how times have changed.
