We Loved Thinking About Our Favorite Memories of Third Grade!

Mrs. Buck's update for May 28th 2008

Our morning began with vocabulary review and Word Ladder sheets.  At the science lab, we discovered the importance of SPF.  It was amazing to see how little the skin is protected from UV light by 15 SPF sunscreen.  After working on Part II of our Reading Assessment, we reviewed the concept of weight, pounds, and ounces in math.  After recess, we worked on a Math Maintenance sheet and began our last math topic:  time.  We learned about time to the quarter and half hour and also to the minute.  In religion, we prayed a decade of the rosary and talked about the third Luminous Mystery:  The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God.  Did you know that Jesus proclaimed God’s goodness in both word and deed?  Reading about Harriet Tubman refreshed our memories about her life story.  We learned about her during Black History Month, but she is also a part of our Famous People Unit in social studies.  Claudia and Jamie found an interesting clue in From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  After lunch, we copied our homework and read our SSR books.  We then worked in our literacy groups.  Writing about what we loved most about third grade was fun.  We are going to put these on turtles that will hang in the hallway.  At the end of the day, we had a great computer class with Mr. D.
