Today Was Our Last Day of Centers!

Mrs. Buck's update for May 29th 2008

Happy Thursday!  Our morning began with vocabulary review.  We also finished up our newspaper articles and summer stories.  In reading, we completed Part III of our Reading Assessment.  Library came next, followed by recess.  After recess, we worked on our Math Maintenance sheet.  Today’s math topic was elapsed time.  We created our own elapsed time problems and solved eachother’s.  Next, we worked in our literacy groups.  It was our final day working at Centers.  We really enjoyed learning this way.  Jamie and Claudia are going to send a letter to the museum to tell them about the secret clue they found about Angel in From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  After lunch, we copied our homework, read our SSR books, and received back tests.  In religion, we prayed a decade of the rosary, reflecting on The Transfiguration, and also worked on a Religion Maintenance sheet.  Our turtles with shells that tell about our favorite third grade memories are adorable!  In science, we wrapped up our Post-Lab about SPF.  At the end of the day, we graded our Cesar Chavez projects.  It was neat to meet with our groups and discuss how we worked together.  What a sign of maturity!
