Working in Groups is Fun!
Mrs. Buck's update for January 26th 2010We had an awesome day today! Our Question of the Day today was: How many cars does your family have: 1, 2, 3, or 4+? (Fourteen of us have two; One of us has three cars.) After our morning meeting, we worked in our small groups at Math Centers. One group practiced writing their numbers from 10 to 15. Another group used the pan balance and had to put a variety of objects in it to make it level. The third group illustrated a number story and wrote number sentences. Recess and snack followed. We got new assigned seats! We were so excited to sit in a new spot with new neighbors. We read a book about the biggest snowman ever. Q Bear helped us learn about working together in a group. We talked about how it is important to share, listen, and take turns and how it feels if groups don’t get along. We each were given a color word puzzle piece and found our other group members. Then, we worked together to put the pieces together and find pictures in magazines that were the same color as our puzzles. After reviewing the “ip” word family, we worked in our phonics books. After recess and lunch, we had a read aloud. Quiet Time came next, followed by Music with Miss Elena. Our journal topic today was: I like driving to… At the end of the day, we had Activity Time, performed our classroom jobs, and read a few poems at Closing Circle.
