Our Chicks Have Hatched!

Mrs. Buck's update for March 23rd 2010

We had an awesome day today!  Our Question of the Day today was:  Would you rather hide eggs or find eggs?  (Three of us like hiding eggs, while twelve of us like finding eggs.)  We were so excited to start our day when we found out that our chicks hatched!  They are adorable!  After our morning meeting, we worked in small groups at Math Centers.  One group used string, yarn, and other materials to make shapes.  Another group worked on ordinal numbers and number writing.  The third group played “Make a Bug” with Miss Sharon.  When your number was rolled, you added a part to your bug.  The first to ten won!  Recess and snack followed.  In language arts, we read an Amelia Bedelia book.  Then, we voted on naming our class chick.  We chose “Ben.”  Next, we practiced for the Africa Show.  After lunch, we read another Amelia Bedelia book.  We really like these!  Quiet Time and Music class followed.  Our journal topic today was:  On Easter, I wear…  At the end of the day, we worked in small groups for Activity Time. One group put together an Easter book and practiced writing Easter words.   Another group worked with Miss Sharon to pick out initial and final sounds.  The third group read a rebus story with Miss Theresa and answered questions about it.  The last group played an Easter Egg board game.
