Our Summer Quilt Is Super!

Mrs. Buck's update for May 21st 2010

We had a marvelous day today!  Our Question of the Day today was:  Do you think fish make good pets?  (Thirteen of us said yes; 2 of us said no.)  After our morning meeting, we talked about Uniform Day.  Miss Sharon had on her art smock and she shared some of her artwork with us.  In Writers’ Workshop, we used letters of the alphabet to brainstorm sentences.  After recess and snack, we read a book about a little boy named Max who played baseball and also danced ballet.  He had on both a baseball uniform and a dance outfit!  We then each made our paper quilt squares to put together as our class quilt.  We had to think about what we like to do most in the summer.  It looks beautiful hanging in the hallway!  Then, we practiced our weekly poem.  Recess and lunch followed.  We had a Mystery Reader and then Quiet Time.  In art, we made rainbow fish, using contact paper and colored tissue paper.  Our journal topic today was lizards.  We ended the day with Activity Time, Time for Kids, class jobs, and Junie B. Jones.  Have a terrific weekend!
