Parents’ Pond
Reminders:
-Summer Tutoring: I am looking to privately tutor over the summer months. If you are interested or someone else you know is looking for an elementary tutor, please feel free to contact me via email for more information and details. Some additional information is posted on the buckbuckgoose homepage. I will be doing the tutoring at the Chester County Public Library in Exton, near the Exton Mall. I would love to help provide extra support and assistance for your child or children to ensure their academic success. Thank you.
-Calendar Marks for Homework: In keeping with the conduct calendar’s goal of promoting complete homework assignments, students receive marks if they complete a different page than the one that was assigned. It is important that the students are responsible learners who correctly copy assignments from the board and complete the necessary homework given each night. It is requested that a parents’ signature is placed in the assignment book every night. I am truly amazed at how well the students are doing with this. They have been very conscientious when writing their assignments down and packing up their schoolbags. This important life skill will help them throughout their academic careers. Keep it up, 3B!
-Conduct Calendars: Conduct calendars have been posted inside each child’s homework assignment book. It is requested that it is signed every night. A signature is required if a mark is placed on the calendar.
-Test Signatures: It is very important that all tests are signed and sent back as soon as possible. Test folders will be sent home on Thursdays along with the Communication Envelopes! Tests need to be signed and returned no later than the following Monday.
-Basic Math Facts: It is imperative that your child knows their basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts very well. I suggest making flash cards of the facts. Several of these should be practiced every night to ensure mastery. Subtraction/Addition/Multiplication War is a fun game to review these skills. It’s the card game of war, but instead of just seeing which number is higher the players need to add, subtract, or multiply the numbers. Whoever says the answer first wins the hand. Another option is having math facts randomly placed throughout the house. Seeing the facts might help your children retain them more quickly!
-Absent/Late Slips: Please remember to send in an absent or late slip anytime your child is absent or leaving early. Thank you so much!
-Book Socks: These are a great alternative to brown paper bags. However, please do not write directly on the book socks. It has been known to seep through and leave markings on the books.
-Cough Drops: These are not allowed in school as they pose a choking hazard.
-Early Pick-Ups: If you need to pick up your child earlier than the scheduled dismissal, please do so at the Main Office.
-Nutritious snacks and lunches: Children learn best when they eat plenty of healthy, nutritious foods. Please try to pack snacks that are good for their bodies and their brains!
